MacMillan Big Coffee Morning 2018

October 15th, 2018

The blue skies and sunshine on Friday 29th September made a beautiful backdrop for the Big Coffee Morning held at St. Monica’s House.

With home-made cakes by Residents, Staff and Committee Members along with lots of cups of tea and coffee, everyone had a wonderful time raising money for MacMillan.  Along with the delicious treats a raffle and competitions with lots of prizes made the event a lot of fun.

All the home-made bakes were entered into a “Bake-Off” vote with the chocolate Hedgehog cake baker winning the title of Star Baker.

Macmillan Coffee Morning 2017

November 3rd, 2017

On September 29th 2017, we took part in the Macmillan Big Coffee Morning.   This was the sixth annual Big Coffee Morning that we have held and is an event very close to our hearts after loosing two colleagues to Cancer.

This year’s Coffee Morning was held at St. Monica’s House and the theme for this year was Bake Off.  Residents, staff and Committee Members all brought in their baked goods in the hope to win the coveted prize – The Bake Off Champion 2017 Spoon and Badge.

A fantastic selection of cakes and other treats along with cups of tea, coffee and lots of chats made this a wonderful event.

The Housing Manager, Chris Green,  had the difficult (although we seriously doubt that it was at all difficult) task of judging the cakes. To make this a fair competition, Chris was unaware of who baked what.  He took the role very seriously and would have done Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith proud.  Chris judged the cakes on taste, look and after trying every cake the winner was…

Mrs Lynch, the Association’s Chairperson and her fabulous cherry cake.  Chris felt that this was the winning cake due to taste, and the even distribution of the cherries.

The money raised from selling the cakes, coffee and the raffle came to a fantastic total of £125.00.

So a big thank you to everyone who took part and made this a fun morning.

Money Raised for Macmillian

October 15th, 2014

The big Coffee Morning held at St. Paul’s House was a huge success and with the kind donations from everyone who came along, a fantastic sum of £94.90 was raised in memory of Sue Arthur and Pam Dumbrell.

Well done to Vee, for organising the event and to everyone who donated the delicious cakes and their time.

Also, a big well done to Vee who took part in the 28K Thames Path Challenge in September. Vee did the mamoth walk in a fantastic 4 hours and 46 minutes and raised money for Macmillian in the process.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

September 26th, 2014

macmillanToday, St. Paul’s House held its third Macmillan Coffee Morning, with staff, residents and Committee Members enjoying the refreshments and donating to a fantastic cause.

Unfortunately, over the past two years, two fabulous members of St. Paul’s House team have lost their battle with cancer so the Macmillian Coffee Morning is a lovely way to raise awareness, a way to thank Macmillan and also a lovely way to remember Sue and Pam.
